I posted this mix originally on mixcloud since I wasn’t paying for soundcloud yet and there was this subtle distinction between these two platforms: one was supposed to promote your tracks and the other was for your mixes…
Anyway since mixcloud went to hell with monetizing basic functions and requiring login just to rewind so they can go suck their mums, ye - re-up to soundcloud and mirroring elsewhere it is, no more walled gardens.
I will dig through my hdds to see if I can replace the soundcloud recording and I’ll publish it to the other mirrors (archive.org and youtube).
It was mixed before I had my own trusty 1200s, with VirtualDJ if I remember correctly, with my midi keyboard M Audio Axiom 25 mapped something like this:
- crossfader to the modulation wheel,
- play/cue/stop for each deck to the beatpads,
- gains and EQs to the knobs.
This setup took a while to get used to but it worked for me for a while.
One thing I used to do was I selected tracks to build a story or a sense of mood just from the track titles, which can be interpreted here clearly. One usually tries way too hard when they’re young, ambitious and very very pretentious lmao.
The “timestamped” version on mixcloud.
